Benzoic Acid Crystalline is a white to colorless solid. Benzoic Acid is used as an antimicrobial additive for carbonated and still beverages, syrups, icing, fruit salads, jellies, jams, preserves, pickles and relishes, pies, margarine, pastry fillings, fruit cocktails, soy sauce, mincemeat, and caviar. Due to its antibacterial property, Benzoic Acid is used in cosmetic products. Benzoic Acid is also employed as a preservative for beverages and pickled products to retards the growth of yeast and moulds. Benzoic Acid is used as a building block to synthesize alkyd resins and also helps to improve its gloss, hardness, and chemical resistance. Benzoic Acid is utilized as a preservative in liquid detergents, emulsion formulations, polishes, and paints, to increase storage stability, and mitigate corrosion.
