Lithium metatungstate is a non-toxic, high-density aqueous liquid used for separating minerals and other solids by density. It is an environmentally friendly alternative to hazardous organic heavy liquids like bromoform, forming solutions with adjustable densities, up to 3.5 g/cm³, for applications in geology, mineralogy, and density gradient centrifugation.
